On December 7, the Veterans Association of Benthanh Group organized a ceremony to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 – December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Veterans Association (December 6, 1989 – December 6, 2024). The event was attended by current and former members of the Veterans Association, representatives of the Party Committee’s Standing Board, and representatives of Benthanh Group’s Party Committee departments.
The delegation visited and offered incense at the Thu Duc City Martyrs’ Cemetery, one of the most historically and culturally significant memorial sites in Ho Chi Minh City. It serves as the final resting place for thousands of heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence, freedom, and reunification of the nation. The cemetery is meticulously planned and solemnly maintained, featuring a central memorial monument surrounded by neatly arranged and well-preserved graves. Beyond being a place for the public and organizations to pay their respects, the cemetery also serves as an educational site for revolutionary traditions, fostering patriotism among younger generations.
This occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on the glorious history of the Vietnam People’s Army—a force born from the people and dedicated to fighting for the people. The tradition of “Loyalty to the Party, filial piety to the people, and readiness to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the nation” was reiterated not only to honor the sacrifices of previous generations but also to instill patriotism and a sense of national defense responsibility in the younger generation. Additionally, the program recognized the contributions of the Vietnam Veterans Association to national construction and defense. As a key force, the association continues to unite and mobilize its members to uphold the qualities of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers” in contributing to economic and social development and ensuring local security and order.
Moreover, the event provided an opportunity for veterans to reunite, engage in meaningful exchanges, and share valuable experiences. The spirit of solidarity and camaraderie was strengthened, inspiring future generations to continue contributing to the nation’s prosperity. The program was not only a commemorative event but also a reminder to society of gratitude and responsibility toward the country and those who have dedicated their efforts to peace, independence, and national development.
On the same day, the delegation also visited and paid respects at the Hung Kings Temple, located within the Historical and Cultural Park in Long Binh Ward, Thu Duc City. This temple is a historically and culturally significant structure built to honor the Hung Kings’ contributions to nation-building and defense. The temple’s architecture harmoniously blends traditional and modern styles, with intricate carvings symbolizing reverence. The most prominent feature of the temple is its towering structure, representing the nation’s resilience and aspiration for progress.
